Devotion is in the Details

A Reflection on Deipnon, Hekate Worship, and Sacred Household Work

Woman in a black hat and lace dress stands in a green forest, wearing a silver necklace with a triple moon design, gazing thoughtfully.

“To the One who walks beside thresholds,

Keeper of keys, torchbearer in the dark —

I meet you in the quiet work."

A New Moon Reflection

Sacred structure. Quiet service. Reclaiming the mundane as magic.

This Virgo New Moon invites us to embrace an intentional rhythm.

We are asked to remember that devotion doesn’t need grandeur.

It can live in routines, in quiet acts of care, and in the little tasks we often rush through.

Especially for those of us holding many roles, parent, priestess, creator, this lunation is a chance to weave the divine into our daily lives, one offering at a time.

This is a time to cleanse the body, our spaces, and also to reset our expectations. To stop beating ourselves up for not being “spiritual enough” and recognize that divinity already lives in the day-to-day.

Key Takeaways this New Moon

• New Moon at 0° Virgo: Just hours after the Sun enters Virgo. A true threshold moment. Initiation of a new seasonal and ritual cycle.

• □ Moon Square Uranus in Gemini: Disruption in routine; an invitation to rewire the way we think about structure and adaptability.

• △ Moon Trine Chiron in Aries: Healing through systems — where order becomes medicine, and small acts create big shifts.

• ☍ Venus in Cancer approaching opposition to Pluto in Aquarius: Emotional vulnerability meets collective intensity; power struggles in relationships or a reckoning with how we give and receive love.

• ✶ Mercury in Leo sextile Mars in Libra: Confident voice meets collaborative action. An opportunity to communicate clearly and assertively, especially in sacred partnerships or leadership roles.

This is a Virgo New Moon that asks us to plant seeds in unexpected soil, speak from the heart, and build systems strong enough to hold both service and soul.

Mother’s Mirror

This New Moon marks a new beginning for me. A new rhythm. A new form of spiritual structure.

After circling one another for years, I’ve decided to begin a formal devotional observance of Deipnon, the sacred offering night to Hekate on the eve of each New Moon. She was one of the first goddesses I ever reached for when I considered joining a coven back in 2020. During a ritual meditation, I asked her if I was meant to lead in this way, and she showed me standing in my power as a ritualist and musician. That moment stuck.

One of my favorite images from promoting "Crossroads" in early 2025

Though my perceived future within that coven never came to pass, the vision she gave me did. Over time, I stepped into the exact role she showed me. And as a thank-you, I wrote the track “Crossroads” for her, featured on my Kapsoura album. That album was the score for our Divine Warrior Witches Persephone Samhain Ritual. In myth, Hekate (as Propolos, the Guide) played a vital role in the story of Persephone’s capture by Hades and eventual rulership of the Underworld.

Since then, I’ve felt her at a distance. A presence. A silence. And if I’m honest, I’ve struggled to figure out how to invite her more fully into my life. But as I looked around at my routines: my clients, my astrology practice, my family life, I realized I already walk the path of a guide.

I already serve those at the crossroads.

So I’ve made a decision:

To observe Deipnon each month with tangible acts of devotion.

To sweep, cleanse, and make quiet offerings.

To write this blog, not because it’s polished, but because it’s honest.

To create meditations that support others in their own thresholds.

And to embrace the idea that spirituality doesn’t need to be separate from motherhood, or dishes, or errands, or stove scrubbing.

In fact, the most spiritual thing I did this week?

I scrubbed the grime off the corners of my kitchen and whispered,

“I dedicate this to the goddess.”
Blue bucket with cleaning supplies: yellow gloves, orange spray bottles, green brush, blue and yellow sponges, set against a light background.

It felt silly at first. But then I kept going.

I cleaned in her name.

I worked in devotion.

And I felt something shift.

Because sacredness doesn’t always look like candles and incense.

Sometimes, it’s a mama with elbow-length gloves, cleaning for the first time in weeks, and remembering that even this — especially this — is holy.

If you’re a tired witch, a hidden priestess, a mama trying to hold it all together, hear me when I say:

You’re already doing the work. You just need to name it.

Mini Ritual

Garlic bulbs, rosemary, olive oil, and peppercorns on a rustic wooden table. A bowl of coarse salt adds texture. Earthy, fresh mood.

A Virgo New Moon offering ritual for Hekate (or any threshold deity)

🧺 You will need:

•A cleaning cloth or broom

•A black or white candle

•A small bowl of salt water or cleansing spray

•A simple food or herbal offering (bread, garlic, lavender, honey)

Steps:

1. Clean one area of your home with care — an altar, kitchen, doorway, or neglected space.

2. As you work, say:

“I offer this action in service. I cleanse this space with purpose.

I invite protection and guidance into this threshold.”

3. Light your candle once the cleaning is complete.

4 Leave your offering at a symbolic crossroads, outside the threshold, or on your altar.

5. Whisper a prayer or mantra of your own — or use the one below.
